IRCCS MultiMedica Cadaver Lab

The IRCCS MultiMedica Cadaver Lab is one of the first anatomical dissection facilities in the Lombardy region, established in 2016 for educational and research purposes.
Located in Milan, at Via G. Fantoli 16/15, this highly-advanced laboratory allos medical professionals to study, experiment with and refine surgical procedures. They are also able to deepen their anatomical knowledge, explore new techniques and perfect established ones using fresh or frozen anatomical specimens. All activities are supported by cutting-edge technology and a dedicated team of professionals who provide both technical and organizational support for every educational and research program.

In 2021, the IRCCS MultiMedica Cadaver Lab was officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Health as a Center of Excellence for the preservation and use of deceased bodies, under Law 10/2020, which governs the post–mortem donation of bodies and tissues for study, education and research.

The Cadaver Lab includes 2 dissecting rooms totaling 200 square meters, equipped with 15 tables and 30 workstations, a preparation room, refrigerated storage units, changing rooms, and an 80-square-meter teaching area that accommodates up to 40 trainees.

The Scientific Director of the Center is Prof. Giorgio Pajardi.

The use of human bodies and post-mortem tissues is guided by the principles of solidarity and proportionality, and carried out with the utmost respect for the human body. The donation of one’s body after death for scientific purposes is only permitted when it is the result of a free, informed, and voluntary decision by the donor.

Donating your body to science is a profound act of generosity and civic responsibility. It provides a unique opportunity to make a lasting contribution to medical advancement and to the education of future healthcare professionals—ultimately having a meaningful impact on public health.

Donated bodies are invaluable to scientific research. They enable in-depth study of human anatomy, foster the development of new surgical techniques, and improve medical procedures. Thanks to this remarkable commitment, we can accelerate scientific discovery, enhance early diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and ultimately save lives and improve quality of life for many.
